Adding project roles(dropdown field) in story for Sprintr project planning board

Hello Team,

I work as an Architect/ Project Manager/ Scrum Master/ Project enabler for multiple projects.

In every of my role, while managing a project backlog on Sprintr board, I have always found a missing thing that could help all project development and business teams during backlog creation.

And that is "A list of possible roles for the project from business perspective. Technically project roles."

We create a story in the backlog which is either technical or functional. In both the types, the story is written for a role in the application. Sometimes a feature is applicable for multiple roles and business team/scrum master could miss adding explicitly all the roles in the story description. Many a times business teams fail to understand need for it at the beginning and it leads to delays.

This causes rework for dev teams and also could lead to incorrect project visibility settings and needs revisions(possibly add technical debt/wrong architecture)  to provide the final version which business expects.

If wrong visibility is added, it could provide a security leak for the application data.

Having a dropdown option or a field(multiselect) like status of the story would help scrum masters and business teams to write every story with adding all the possible roles(defined as part of project preparation like tags) during creation of the story itself. This way we force them to think in a way how application features will be made visible to different roles in the application.

And, why I don't want this to get added in current tags because tags are for functional grouping of features and a lot of tags will be added if story is applicable to multiple roles which in the end will make a story board fuzzy and will not serve the actual purpose of tagging feature.

Though this looks a pretty simple requirement, in my opinion It could add a lot of business value for business team and a lot of potential to save costs and release more quality apps.

Best Regards,

Vaishali
