What does the property descriptive mean in the attribute dialog

I added an attribute to a meta object and I see the property descriptive. I changed its value but nothing seems to happen. What does it do?

The property descriptive is only used for Reference Set Selectors in Data Views. It determines the order of the columns. Left-to-right follows low-to-high. When the descriptive is set to 0, the attribute will not be visible.
