When eliminating parent object child object remains.

Hi, I have a problem with associations. I have a “Failure” object that is displayed on a list, this object has a “Cause” child object that is displayed on another list (This because the user can add as many causes as he wants), but whenever I delete the parent, the child stays and is displayed when I create another parent object. I have already selected the option “On delete of Failure object: delete Cause objects as well” Hope you can help.
