using the reference selector on a form and i get an error message :Meta object has no descriptive attributes

Are you refereing to a reference set selector? If this is the case, you can read this answer Descriptive Values of objects for more info on what to do with this error

This means that the attributes of the object on the Reference Selector do not have a Descriptive option set. These are used for sorting the list in the Reference Selector.

You can set these together with the associated Descriptive Caption in your metamodel on the object in question.
