Any updates to git migration for repositories over 80gb?

The migrate to git documentation says that repositories over 80gb can’t be migrated and they are working on a fix. However, this error message has been up since spring. Is this page being kept up to date? Are they still working on a fix, or have they found a fix? It takes several hours of trying to migrate to git before an error message, so I thought I would rather ask here.
