Keeping text formatting when changing to rich text editor

Hi everyone, We are in the process of transitioning some of our text boxes to CKEditor to offer users more formatting options. However, we're encountering an issue: when we switch to CKEditor, it seems to strip out all previous formatting. For instance, if users have added tabs or line breaks to separate paragraphs, these get lost and the text turns into a single block. Has anyone else faced this issue or have suggestions on how to retain the original formatting when transitioning to CKEditor?
