Manually edit the date field

Hello, I have modified the mendix app-wide date format to: YYYY-MM-dd from Settings> Language > Date format. Now users are unable to type the date using keyboard, only possible option is to pick date using date-picker. Even if we type the date in the provided format, application says, it is invalid format. Can anyone help on this?
