repetative message concerning incompatible jdk-version after installing jdk1.6.0_27

Although having correctly installed jdk1.6.0 27 next to jdk1.6.0 04 (both x86-version) keep on getting the message "Unable to start the server, because the installed JDK version is not compatible" upon deployment. Followed exactly the same steps as I did before (laptop, working ok) but now on my desktop having trouble. Any suggestions for trouble shooting?
