Does the forum badges and email function still work?

I noticed that a lot of new forum users do not have badges. Since some badges can be earned easily I wonder if this function has been turned off for some reason. And I still can subscribe to forum post to receive emails about updates but that functionality is also for quite some time not functioning. Could somebody from Mendix shed some light on this? Badges were turned off as they were quite buggy in the forum software this forum is based on. I don't know about email updates, as far as I know they should work. I subscribed to this question to test :)
