Transfer database from SQL Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012

Hi We looking to transfer our existing Mendix applications Database from a SQL 2008 R2 to a SQL 2012 database. The current DB size is around 12 GB. Could anyone provide information or a guide to this process please? Our application is running in production and obviously we cant risk data corruption or loss. Thanks

Since it's a database server of the same type, you can simply backup your SQL Server 2008 database and import it again in your 2012 server. I would assume you're already making backups so this should be fairly easy to do for your server admin. Of course you're going to have to pick a good time for this and you're also going to have to point the application towards the new server's address and restart it.
