If you just want to add some static text then you could add a table with a label containing the text. Alternatively you could create an entity in which you configure the text that you want to display on the home page and add a data view on the homepage that retrieves the text and displays this in a non editable field (if you need formatted text with bullets etc, then have a look at the app store rich text widget).
