Debuggin a startup microflow?

I enabled a breakpoint in the startup microflow but I noticed that the debugger does not break in this microflow. Is this normal/designed behaviour?

I had that too. I ended up putting a lot of log actions in the microflow. You can also temporarily remove it from the model settings and put a big fat microflow button on your home page. Only for local testing purposes of course.
