build info available in runtime

I would like to display te version of the application (build etc) in a form. Can that info be accesed?

Look in Community Commons, Misc folder. You'll find a Java Action called GetRuntimeVersion that does what you're looking for, I think.

This information is not available when running on the standard cloud environments see this post. Would be nice to have that info in the application, you could try and file a feature request at Mendix support.
