I have noticed in Mendix 5.12.0 that it seems to fail to generate thumbnails if the image being uploaded is a small size, resulting in a broken image icon being displayed in an image viewer with display set to thumbnail. Has anyone else encountered this issue?

A good workaround for now is to choose picture instead and give the picture the same dimensions as your thumbnail would have had

Yes, we encountered exactly the same. I think we should file bug reports.
