Inline Editing a reference selector with option to constrain based on a another attribute

Hi guys, Here's my situation: I have a data grid with the new button configured with the option of inline editing. There are 3 columns that are all references. Ideally, I'd like to acheive the following. Column 1 is selected and an option is selected from the dropdown. I'd like Column 2 to be constrained based on the value in Column 1. However, there is no option to constrain in a data grid column. If I try a template grid Inline Editing is not an option. The desired design is to edit inline and not open up a new/edit page to enter the information. Is there a workaround for this? Thanks
