Widgets with native smartphone functionalities (cordova/phonegap)

Hi all, I'm looking into creating widgets that can acces native smartphone functions much like some of the widgets already in the appstore (e.g. camera widget) However I have no experience with cordova/phonegap and I'm having a difficult time finding a good place to start. Are there any good tutorials or tips that will point me in the right direction? Thanks.

I hope somebody from mendix can fix this, because now we have to log into confluance if I want to see this.
