I would like to use the Database Connection Module in an app hosted in the Mendix Cloud. It will be used to connect to and make requests to an external database. Before I move forward with this - I just wanted to ensure that this is permitted in the Mendix Cloud. I have read a few postings that touch on this question, but just wanted to get a definitive answer before moving ahead.

I don't think it's a question of whether or not it's permitted from the Mendix cloud. It's a matter of the restrictions put on the database in question. Typically you're restricted by firewall on the database side.
