Placeholder for Reference Selector

How do I add placeholder text similar to the placeholder text that you can add edit box but to a reference selector? Thankyou very much

This is not possible with Mendix by default. You could go for a Javascript solution within a HTMLsnippet where you add a placeholder to the dropdown.
