Mendix datetimepicker, onchange event doesnt trigger when manually typing the date?

As the title says, i'm currently experiencing a very annoying problem. If i manually type a date, the onchange event of the date time picker doesn't trigger. Which prevents me from doing checks on the new input on whether this was valid.
