Standard cancel button does not work

I have a page that opens in content. When I want to close the page using the standard cancel button, the page does not close. When creating a new object, I can see that the cancel button removes this newly created object, because the object is not available in some of the action buttons I use in the page, but it does not close the page. Does anybody have an explanation / solution for this strange behaviour?

Is there any error in the Mendix or browser console?

There are no errors in the browser or Mendix console. That would certainly make it easier to find an explanation for this problem. Sadly enough there are no errors.
