Is is possible to have selected items in the variables window expanded when debugging? Now, when I expand an object to see it's attibutes and I ‘step into’ the next microflow-step the object collapses and I have to expand the object before I can see the new attributes value

Nope, there is no setting in the Mendix iDE that will have this effect. You can add an idea for this, but it will likely take a while before ( and if) it gets implemented.
