How to make a core product using Mendix platform which can support customization as an independent component without impacting the core product upgrade

Hi, We want to create a core product using Mendix platform; At the same time it should support customization as an independent component without impacting the core product However, out requirement is such that we maintain two different components for the same product; One is core Product and the other is customization specific to client/project. while we build and keep upgrading our core product, the customization already done by different project/client can remain unchanged.
