Many clients in the MEA region still rely on on-premise deployments for systems such as SAP ECC and Oracle. This is projected to continue well into the deep 2020s. Creating extensions in a cloud model is cumbersome when trying to connect to these systems. The idea is to create an on-premise connector to allow for IDOC or BAPI integration that enable secure integration. SAP provides a connector but it appears to only operate through SAP Cloud Platform which forces a deployment approach. There needs to be another way.
