Using an existing Oracle database with Mendix front end

Hi. The question and the answers are pretty old. https://community.mendix.com/p/questions/11540474045271119 Can someone say about the current status? Has anything changed?

The database directly used for Mendix applications will follow the app Domain model structure. Thus using an existing DB with an existing scheme cannot be used. Mendix will override the existing structure.

You do have 2 main options

When database is also used for other apps/systems;
- Setup the domain model as data is used in the app
- Integrate with the database using
  - the Data base connector https://marketplace.mendix.com/link/component/2888
  - OData or REST API
  - any other available integrations @site
When database is only used for the Mx app; You transfer the data from the existing data base
- Setup the domain model as data is used in the app
- transfer the data to the new database using
  - the Data base connector https://marketplace.mendix.com/link/component/2888
  - OData or REST API
  - any other available integrations @site
