Summary:

Introduce a streamlined “Set and Forget” deployment option in Pipelines, allowing users to schedule a pipeline execution with minimal steps: select a revision, pick a deployment time, and confirm—eliminating the need for manual intervention.

 

Problem Statement:

Currently, scheduling a pipeline execution requires multiple steps and ongoing attention to ensure timely execution. Users often need to monitor deployments or manually trigger them at specific times. This adds unnecessary overhead, especially for teams managing multiple environments and releases.

 

Proposed Solution:

Add a “Schedule Deployment” button that simplifies the process into three quick steps:

1. Select Revision – Choose the specific revision to deploy.
2. Pick Deployment Time – Set the exact date and time for execution.
3. Confirm & Walk Away – Once scheduled, the system takes care of the rest.

Key Benefits:

• Time Efficiency: Reduces manual effort by enabling a quick, hassle-free scheduling process.
• Reliability: Ensures deployments happen exactly when needed without human oversight.
• Improved Workflow: Helps teams focus on higher-value tasks instead of micromanaging deployments.

Additional Considerations:

• Option to receive a notification when the deployment starts/completes.
• Ability to modify or cancel scheduled deployments before execution.
• Audit logs to track scheduled deployments for compliance and transparency.
• Add error handling options to retry, or revert to last stable build.
