Upgrade App and license-key

We are upgrading a lot of apps. Do we need new license keys for every upgraded App or is there a way to use the existing one?

Upgrading as in moving to a more recent version of Mendix?

I never had to change anything in license keys for that.

Is there a specific reason in your case to wonder if that is needed?
