In-/exclude green initial commit of branche when merging?

Requesting information to have it clarified once and for all: What are the consequences of including or excluding the initial commit (“Created branche “X” from revision Y from branche “Z”) when merging branches? We have a relatively simple Main-/Development-/Feature- branche structure and hence do a lot of merging. But every time I wonder whether I should include the initial commit or not – or what the consequences are for (not) doing. So to have that clarified, this simple topic. Go.

With initial commit, you mean the start revision of the branchline?

In that case, no need to include, since it should be a 100% copy of the source revision used to create the branch.
