Hosting multiple applications off the same instance - On Premise Mendix

I have done a quick google – so maybe I haven’t googled enough – but I can’t find anything about running multiple applications on the same server instance. Is this a good idea? I was thinking that hosting DEV/UAT off the same instance and PROD on its own one should do the job.
