Hi, At present Mendix don't have an API call for creating the backup. Without this feature it is not possible to automate the deployment process. Every time before deployment we take the back up of the database/files in case something goes wrong. Without this feature the automation will be incomplete. Thanks Kavitha.

Unfortunately this is a known issue. Very strange indeed that there is a Deployment API but no Backup API. You can give your support here on the idear forum: https://forum.mendix.com/link/ideas/269
