What happens if multiple Asset links find the same asset in the shopfloor? Are the datasets merged?

If I want to extract as many information as possible from the assets in my shopfloor I can apply various asset links to take advantage of multiple protocols. However, what happens if several asset links find data for the same asset? Are the data sets combined? And which asset link wins if different values are provided for the same property?

Asset discovery and identification currently operate as follows:

Each asset instance is managed by the Asset link that first discovers it. During a rescan, any changes identified by this initial Asset link are updated. However, results from other Asset links are not merged into the Asset information model. Since scan results from different Asset links are not merged, it is recommended to initially use the Asset link expected to provide the most comprehensive data.

I hope this helps in clarifying how different scans interact with each other and how to get the most out of asset discovery.
