The Common Configurator, already a game-changer on the Industrial Edge Device as part of the Industrial Information Hub, is now available on Industrial Edge Management Pro as Common Configurator Management App. This release represents a significant step forward in our commitment to providing efficient, scalable solutions for connectivity.
Key Features:
- Centralized connectivity configuration management
- Dual configuration capability (Device & Management)
- Reduced device resource consumption
System Requirements:
- IE Device Runtime v1.22.3 or IEVD v1.22.3 or Simatic IPC IED-OS v3.0
- Databus v3.2.1 (with Websockets enabled)
- IEM PRO v1.12.9
- Common Configurator Management App v1.0
- Update Connectors for enabling Central Configuration (SIMATIC S7 Connector 2.3.1, OPC UA Connector 2.4.0, SIMATIC S7+ Connector 2.0.0, Ethernet IP Connector 4.0.0, Modbus TCP Connector 4.0.0)
Key Benefits:
Centralized Management:
- Configure data connectivity from one central location at IEM
- Session management for the Configured edge devices.
Unified Configuration:
- Whether you prefer centralized on IEM or decentralized on IEDs, the Common Configurator has you covered.
- Whenever the configuration is updated on Device, then you need to perform manually ‘Reload Connector’ configuration on Common Configurator Management App as there is no automatic update of configuration available in this version.
Resource Optimization:
- Reduced app footprint on edge devices (Common Configurator on Device not required if you want to use only the Common Configurator Management App)
- Improved device performance due to lesser number of dependent apps.
Flexibility:
- Maintain existing device-level configuration option
- Seamless integration with current infrastructure
- Supports data connectivity configuration for all edge device types including ARM devices
For more details, please refer the documentation. We are further working to have the Common Configurator Management App on IEM Cloud and IEM-V flavors too.
Important Update: The Common Connector Configurator will be completely replaced by the Common Configurator Management App starting September 30, 2025. A comprehensive migration journey will be provided to ensure a seamless transition to the more performant Common Configurator.
