showing custom error pages when application is down does not seem to work when i also have a custom Domain name registered for my app

Hi, i have had custom error pages set up for a while now and it all worked great. (like this https://docs.mendix.com/howto/front-end/custom-error-page) But i noticed, after i registered a custom domain name for my app, that the custom error pages are not shown anymore when application is down (for deploy or anything). Is this issue related to the custom domain name? if yes, why? and is there a way to solve it?
