how can I consume this external API and display the data fetched on a page external api – api.openweathermap.org/data/2.5/weather?q={city name}&appid={API key}

Hi Ronal,

You need to consume the API's Rest service. If you want to do this with Mendix then all you need to do is follow this How-to: https://docs.mendix.com/howto/integration/consume-a-rest-service 

Follow the API documentation closely and it's very easy!
