I have a question concerning the SAML Module of Mendix. One of our clients is about to update it's server certificate of their IDP. Will this change require us to reimport their idp meta data or are the certificates of the idp always taken for granted?

You need to import their idp Metadata again. In almost all my SAML setups I do this on a daily basis so these certificates etc are all getting updated without human interferance.
