Actually this is several things when bundling together might make the AppStore more comfortable/usable.
While scanning through the AppStore you usually will find several possible solutions for a specific topic.
While opening them about 50-90% of the packages are outdated (do not work for the current release of mendix) or are even no longer maintained (looking at the github repository you might see latest change several years ago or even that packages are already archived).
My Suggestions:
- Mark every item to be compatible with the version of Mendix Studio/the project you are currently using. Another option might be to have a field which states which (major versions) a package is compatible with.
- Show the compatibility of a package in the result view of a search
- Change sort order to retrieve items that are compatible first and non-compatible ones later.
- Notify store item owners that new (major) versions of Mendix studio would break compatibility. If there’s no change in the compatibility settings, mark them as “outdated”.
