ExcelImport -> Can not import Exported Template which is in XML format

We are using ExcelImport module in an app and I would like to export the template from test server and import it into development server. I can export the created Excel Import Template without any problem. However, when I try to import it back in to dev server, it does not accept it as valid format stating that only ".xlm,.xls,.xlsm,.xlsx,.vsd,.vsdm,.vsdx,.vss,.vssm,.vst,.txt,.sldx,.pptx,.pptm,.ppt,.ppsx,.ppsm,.pps,.ppam,.potx,.potm,.pot,.png,.pdf,.gif,.doc,.docm,.docx,.dot,.dotx,.jpg,.jpeg" file types are accepted.
