Is it possible to have two branches one built on Mendix 6.10.2 and other on 7.16 connecting to the same database and using the same entities ?

No, when you once run the 7.16 App the database will be converted. If you run mx 6 app again the changes are reverted, so data entered in Mx 7 may get lost.
