Unlock checkboxes

In the above image I would like to be able to select Country in ‘Country’. Which at the moment is taking me two clicks and could be reduced by one. Maybe this has been done on purpose, maybe not. I however like the option to be able to do so, if not, well, no hard feelings. (also this tutorial ‘Expose Data With REST Services‘ is somewhat wonky and has incorrect references)
