Make Mendix Studio Pro 10 fast again !

49

Mendix Studio Pro 10 is veeeeery slow. Waiting a couple of seconds for a copy-paste action isn’t unusual in even a small project, also opening a context menu is terribly slow. It’s even so slow that i stopped recommending developers to upgrade to 10. Mendix please speed up the modeler! I currently work in version 10.9.0.  My hardware should not be an issue, i have an i7 11th Gen, 32GB Memory with SSD.

(sorry for the copy-paste of my previous idea, but it seems the same again :-( ).

Hi Stephan,

Thanks for the feedback. We've closed it since all significant issues so far have been solved, and we've also been adamant in checking this with users that have raised performance issues. That doesn't mean we're going to stop with making improvements.

Please reach out to support with regards to "the styling tab in the properties panel was loading noticeably >500ms" since that seems to be a new case that has not been flagged with us yet.

Not sure why this issue was closed, 10.12 has been out for a few days, bit quick to jump to the conclusion it has fixed all issues.

  • the expression editor is still laggy when typing (10.12 in a new project)
  • expression editor opens a "new window" for each suggestion list
  • sometimes the lines in the editor between actions just disappear
  • the styling tab in the properties panel was loading noticeably >500ms

Some other elements do feel faster than in 9.24.x but overall its not an improvement over 9.x and this is only on a new app (basically 8 entities, 3 microflows I've added till now)

Hi Johan, can you give me some examples of context menus that are slow to open, can you also tell me in which version this had better performance? I will check and profile to improve it.

The clean up and debugging step in the local deployment can take endless amounts of time :-(. This has been present for a while though.

Thanks for the feedback Johan, we're currently actively investing in improving the performance and stability of Studio Pro. If you have any other insights or scenarios in which it is particularly slow, please do share this so we can improve it further.
