Automatically generated commit messages

Hello everyone,

so the boom of ai is enorm at the moment, even here in the mendix universe. Some people don't like it, some do. There are some posabilities with ai, that won't steal our jobs but make our lives easier.

So my idea is to implement a ai function that will look through the latest changes and try to summarize it in human language. This will then get prompted to you when you try to commit, so you don't need to find a good commit message. This would save time and also old commit messages will be easier to understand.

At the moment there are some examples, e.g. AI Commit or from JetBrains an AddOn AI Commits.

Please share your ideas with this feature!

Studio Pro already knows per document the changes you've made. Although Maia doesn't know the reasons why you changed it, it definitely could provide an objective textual summary of all open changes. This can also be of great help for reviewing, as you have a complete summary to walk through.

I can imagine that updating old commit messages / augmenting them is quite extensive and not really feasible.

Anyhow: a little bit of Maia in my life 🎶🎷
