Dockable area studio pro MAC

2

Hi Mendix team,

Thank you for delivering native Mendix Studio Pro support on macOS — it’s a long-awaited milestone, and the current beta and LTS releases (10.24.1 and 11.0.0) already show great progress.

That said, there’s a key productivity issue that I hope can be addressed soon: the **docking and layout customization on macOS is currently too limited** compared to the Windows version.

### What's missing:

In the Windows version, it's possible to:- Fully customize the Studio layout by dragging panels (Toolbox, Properties, Console, Errors, Variables, etc.) into any docking zone (left, right, bottom, floating).- Undock and float any panel as a separate window — useful for multi-screen or widescreen setups.- Crucially, **separate the "Variables" tab from the "Debugger" panel** so they can be visible at the same time.

On macOS, this freedom is restricted:- Panels like "Variables", "Debugger", "Breakpoints", "Console", etc. are **grouped into a fixed bottom zone** and cannot be detached or moved to the side.- I cannot place the **"Variables" tab on the right** (next to Toolbox/Marketplace), or even float it separately.- Each internal view has a **predefined zone**, and drag-and-drop is only possible *within* that zone.

### Why it matters:

This lack of flexibility affects:- **Debugging efficiency**: It's currently impossible to view **Variables and the Debugger side-by-side**, which is critical during troubleshooting.- **Development speed**: Mac users can't optimize their workspace or adapt it to large monitors or multiple screens.- **Parity with Windows**: This limitation creates an uneven experience between platforms.

### Feature request:

Please consider implementing:- **Full docking support**, including dragging panels to any side or floating.- The ability to **undock and place "Variables" separately from "Debugger"**.- Custom layout saving, so Studio Pro remembers panel positions between sessions.

This enhancement would significantly improve the workflow for macOS users and bring the IDE closer to its full potential across platforms.
