Mendix has been actively working on a beta version of Studio Pro for macOS, which is great progress. Right now, it supports web app development to some extent. But native mobile development is still not supported.
##The Problem:
As a native mobile developer, this creates a major roadblock. We still need a Windows system to build native pages, while for iOS builds (IPA), a mac system is necessary. This leads to a forced dependency on two systems—Windows for building the app, and macOS for generating the IPA. It complicates the workflow and adds overhead, especially for developers who prefer or primarily work on Mac.
##Why It Matters:
Supporting native pages in the macOS version of Studio Pro will make native mobile development much smoother and more accessible. Many developers—especially indie developers or small teams—work entirely on mac. Forcing them to switch to Windows just for Studio Pro slows down adoption and productivity.
##Suggestion:
Now that web development support is progressing well in the mac beta, it would be great if the Mendix team could prioritize native mobile page support too. This will remove the dual-system dependency and improve the native development experience significantly.
yes Great suggestion
Yes it is indeed pain point..
Absolutely agree with this! As a native mobile developer primarily working on macOS, the current requirement to switch between mac and Windows just to handle different parts of the development process is not only inefficient but also a major barrier to productivity. Supporting native mobile page development directly in Studio Pro for macOS would be a game-changer—eliminating the need for dual systems and making Mendix much more appealing for Mac-centric teams and solo developers. Given the growing demand for native experiences, this feels like a natural and necessary next step. Looking forward to seeing this prioritized!
