DataGrid2 - problems with using a generalization entity in a colum

I want to populated a DataGrid2 column with an attribute of an entity that is a generalization G of entities A and B. The attribute is an attribute of G, and G has an association to the data source objects of the DataGrid2. The problem is: When the DataGrid2 is filled with objects, the this column stays empty, although the attributes of the actual objects (of entity A) have the attribute defined. Might is be a bug, or am I doing something stupid here?
