Hi George,
The e-mail with templates module will be deprecated with the NEXT MAJOR release, so Mendix 10. If it works fine now (I know, you already deleted it), use it and let the bugs fade out of the new module before you implement that one.
Hi George,
Suggest to try the email and password fields of the ‘Email account’ wizard page (either with your amazon email address, or the specific username and password provided for email connection.
If you use well-known provider, an autoconfiguration option will be available on the next page (Email protocol). See below en example for Gmail account.

Hi George,
So I would always apply them as following:
However, appropriate port value and TSL/SSL option configuration are also important.
Well, I cannot say sure what is your problem, but the followings might help you to find it out:
1) Run a test with the incoming direction as well. If it works properly, then the authentication (username/password) is correct for sending direction as well.
2) Make an attempt with the username/password setting suggested above and share the stack trace (as you did formerly). We will be smarter.
Caused by: jakarta.mail.AuthenticationFailedException: 535-5.7.8 Username and Password not accepted.
which is fine.
Caused by: jakarta.mail.NoSuchProviderException: smtp
which is a little bit odd.
Hope these help you as next step,
Istvan
