RandomHash with specific length of characters

I saw several posts where people talked about the need to generate unique random strings (alphanumeric), which serve as id. The most accepted solution answered is to use the Java function “RandomHash” from the CommunityCommons. Now, I am interested in knowing how to solve this same problem if you want a specific number of characters. Every solution is welcome.

Do you need a hashed string, or just a random string. The Community Commons Random String allows you to specify the length
