Default the current logged in user into a datagrid dropdown search field

I would like to default the current logged in user into a search field on a datagrid.  I tried the normal '[%CurrentUser%]' in the default value on the search field in question, but this does not seem to work. I noticed that a similar question was asked 3 years ago, but without an answer in the link below.  Does anyone have an updated solution by any chance? https://community.mendix.com/link/questions/4336 Many thanks

Hi Gustav,

I dont think this is possible ATM as far as I know, further it looks like the default value is just a static string. 

We had similar kind of requirement so we created custom search functionality as we couldn't accomplish this using default mendix search. There might be better way of achieving this which others might be able to share or may be you can solve this issue by creating custom search.
