Is there a way to do this currently in Mendix or does Mendix have plans to allow for the addition of a new HTML attribute similar to what Playwright is suggesting here in future Mendix versions?

Unless you create your own widgets, to apply this, it is not supported by default. Every element gets an ID but depending on the rendering widget it will be more or less dynamic.
