Keeping open the editable columns of data grid achieves several things.
- User has no confusion about what fields are editable.
- There no need to clear the field”happens when you don’t double click on the editable field” and start typing right away. The entire field gets cleared.
- Validations that need to happen on submitting the data do not see the field changes unless the user actually remember to tab out of the editable field and also those changes do not get committed. Which can end up being a very bad user experience.
