I have create a custom dropdown widget for which i want to populate data from an entity. In order to do this i need to add a data view in my layout page. But unable to do so. Any leads would be appreciated.

If you really need the dataview in your layout you can put it in a snippet first and add the snippet. You can also use a placeholder and it add later on your page.
