For numeric(decimal fields) the prefilled 0.00 doesnt get removed as soon as number is entered

I have text box which is numeric with 2 decimal places that by default looks like this. If i type a number, the 0.00 should get removed automatically and replaced by the number i enter, But it doesnt get remove and i need to select and delete it or edit it for my entry. Can this setting be modified?

Clear the default value of the attribute. If you like to have your customers see '0.00’ before adding a value, then set the placeholder of the page-field.
